Wood fired porcelains
5" long x 2.5" wide x 3.5" tall.
About the process:
This original handmade sculpture was woodfired in a traditional Japanese-style anagama kiln. The kiln was fed with wood every five to ten minutes until it reached temperatures of 2200 Fahrenheit over the course of five days. The wood ash settled onto the piece, melting into a beautiful glaze. The egg and the teeth are made of an extra pale porcelain that stayed lighter than the body of the beast, while a dark stoneware was used to make the nest. All the colors come the clay, the ash, and the flame.
About the piece:
There are many types of gifts in life. There's presents that mean more to the giver than the receiver, and there's the perfect, undreamed of present. Most importantly, there's the gift of time, and even more rare, the gift of patience.
"Gifts" will be sent out via USPS Priority Mail within one to three business days, safely and securely heading your way. In case of overpayment for international shipping, I'll refund the extra.
