Important: this piece is part of my solo show "Mythical Worlds" at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, which runs through August 28th. It will not ship until the show is down and I've had time to pack it. It will mostly likely ship in mid September, depending on the complexity of packing it.

Mother Night has a long journey to travel. The first version of this piece exploded in the bisque kiln. This version came together beautifully. I'm in love with it.

About the process:
This piece was fired in a wood-fired soda kiln, a slightly different process than the rest of my work. The kiln was heated with wood, and the wood ash gives the beast blushes of brown and yellow. At peak temperatures, sodium bicarbonate is added to the kiln, softly melting the surface of the clay into a glaze. The effect is especially evident on the creamy, glossy horns. The body of Mother Night is a stained porcelain, which shows a delicate hint of blue. The inside has been darkened with black underglaze.
The stars are glazed with 14 kt gold luster. They hang, along with the moon, from delicate chains.

About shipping:
The shipping cost is my estimate for covering shipping and insurance, via UPS. If the cost of shipping is less, I'll refund any extra. I can also delivery it locally, and refund you the whole shipping cost. This beast will ship in a crate.
For international shipping, the buyer will the responsible for import taxes. I can't presently ship to the UK.

About payments:
Interested in paying in installments? Check my FAQ page, then shoot me an email, and we can make it happen. However, this option only becomes available twenty four hours after my sale starts.
