Important: this piece is part of my solo show "Mythical Worlds" at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, which runs through August 28th. It will not ship until the show is down and I've had time to pack it. It will mostly likely ship in mid September, depending on the complexity of packing it.

Solstice looks down at the world from up high, with its sun and its clouds. It is a quiet watcher, keeping track of the change of seasons and the growth of trees.

About the process:
This original handmade sculpture was wood fired in a traditional Japanese-style anagama kiln. The kiln was fed with wood every five to ten minutes until it reached temperatures of 2300 Fahrenheit over the course of five days. The ash coated the piece and melted into a beautiful glaze. This beast has darker stoneware horns, and barely visible porcelain teeth. The sun is hand-hammered brass
